Project Overview
In May 2023, Mantri IT Park, a prominent corporate IT hub in Pune’s Viman Nagar area, planned a scheduled infrastructure shutdown for internal upgrades and UPS system maintenance. To ensure uninterrupted power to essential services such as data centers, control rooms, elevators, and facility management systems, a robust and precisely coordinated temporary power setup was required.
Prakash Electricals & Power Solution (PEPS) was entrusted with delivering a high-capacity diesel generator (DG) solution across multiple floors of the building under a tight operational timeline — ensuring zero downtime and complete safety.

Scope of Work Executed by PEPS
Generator Deployment
Supplied and installed a fleet of 4 mobile DG sets with a total installed capacity of 1,630 kVA:
- 2 × 500 kVA
- 1 × 380 kVA
- 1 × 250 kVA
DGs were strategically positioned at designated ground-level points to supply load floor-wise through UPS input panels.
Vertical Power Cable Setup
Laid temporary power cables across six floors from each generator set to corresponding UPS control panels.
Used high-grade, flame-retardant, heavy-duty cables with proper supports, bends, and insulation for long vertical runs.
Managed proper load balancing from multiple DGs to segregated floor-wise UPS loads.
Temporary Earthing Arrangements
Provided individual earthing systems for each DG set using chemical earthing pits and copper plate grounding to ensure safe operations during high-load usage.
All earth pits were tested for resistance and marked as per safety norms.
Power Distribution & Control Panel Interface
Integrated AMF bypass panels and manual switching mechanisms to control, rotate, and isolate generator feeds when needed.
Ensured fault-safe operation during transitions and manual override when required.

Challenges & Execution Highlights
Multi-Floor Load Connection
The major challenge was managing cable layout from ground level to 6 floors without disrupting internal infrastructure. PEPS executed this with precision and zero safety compromise.
Shutdown Timeline
All installation, cable laying, testing, and commissioning were completed within 24 hours before the scheduled shutdown began.
Zero Downtime Achieved
All critical systems — including UPS banks, elevators, and server rooms — remained continuously powered during the shutdown window.
Complete Safety Compliance
Every DG set and cable segment was properly earthed and operated under strict supervision. No safety incident occurred.
